Goals

Hello blog readers!  I am coming up to April 1st where I had set some goals for this here little tiny bloggy.  Several goals I have already reached!  Yay!  This blog started out as an outlet for me, a way to put my crafty stuff out there.  It still serves that purpose and drives me to keep creating and pushing myself to the next levels of good design and creativity.  I also want people to enjoy reading this blog, get ideas and inspiration and have fun looking around!

Would you help me?  Please feel free to leave comments, send me emails, request projects and tell me what you love to see!  This blog will always be a crafty outlet, but to be honest, I want people to read it too!  I will probably be branching out just a bit and adding some mommy and beauty things, mostly because those are 2 other things I love.  Don't worry, there will always be sewing, crafting, decorating, embroidering and crocheting going on in my life!

I have so many goals and dreams, and lately I have been extra inspired to pursue them with the addition of the YouTube channel and better photos, graphics, pinnable images and a better layout.  Being a wife and mother will always be my priority and a priority I love and cherish more than anything, so ultimately I really feel like I am living my dream already!

Do you have goals and dreams?  What are they?  Are there any that you have fulfilled or are working on?

Don't be afraid to go after your dreams and make good, practical and attainable goals!

P.S. Like my little embroidered "goals?"  So fun!

DIY iPhone cross stitch case tutorial

Happy Wednesday!  I finished creating a cross stitched/embroidery iPhone case, filming the tutorial video and creating the blank template for you to make your own design.  This little project took a lot of thought and energy to put all these pieces together, but I think they came out great, so I'm excited to share them with you.  Here is the iPhone case that I made!

What do you think?

Ever wanted to make one of these iPhone cases?  I made a template to make it easy to create your own design!  The document can be downloaded here.

Here is the video tutorial I made to show you exactly how to do it.  No need to have any stitching experience!

Inspiration/Fruition

I have some other Inspiration/Fruition projects in the works, but my modern mini quilt was the first completed one, so here is a little image with an easy way to see the "Inspiration" and the "Fruition."

What have you been inspired by lately?  For me it has been fashion and home decor patterns.

I was featured over at House of Hepworths!  Allison has featured my Craft Closet Makeover and has a fun little site over there, you should check it out!  Click the button ;).

I put a new video up on the YouTube channel yesterday.  It's perfect as a beginner project!  It works up fast, and it's very practical too.

Here are a few other examples of washcloths I have made in the past.

Happy Stitching!!

Modern Mini: Fashion inspiration

I saw a lot of people talking about the Modern Mini Quilt Challenge over at Ellison Lane Quilts and decided I wanted to participate.  I had this idea floating around in my head that I wanted to try and a mini quilt is a great way to hash out ideas and see how they turn out!

First of all... here is my finished mini quilt.

It measures 11.5 x 13.

And here is the inspiration...

Lately I have been very inspired by fashion.  The patterns, textures and prints that are found in clothing are often on trend in Home Decor as well.  I love this ombre-esque splatter skirt that I saw in In Style Magazine.  See my little clipping I circled?

I wanted to play around with the variation, the light to dark with speckles and splotches of other colors.

I added some touches of embroidery to play into that splatter painted look, but I kept it simple and didn't go too crazy with it.

I loved the Tula Pink coral fabric I used as the color splatters as well, the corals in this fabric are divine and the chartreuse green is a lovely compliment.

I decided to quilt it in a jagged free motion, and reference the current aztec and Native American trend that is so big right now. I also chose an orange thread for the top Kona Medium grey portion of the quilt and white thread for the bottom portion to keep the contrast and a minimum because I didn't want the quilting to distract from the piecing but rather enhance it.

This is the back of the mini quilt, a fun floral in a similar color family.

What do you think of my mini quilt?  Hop on over to Ellison Lane and check out the other beautiful entries!!  There are some magnificent ones!!

Craftsy BOM February

These are my Craftsy BOM February Blocks!!  I really like these ;).  I am partial to half square triangles though.  I learned a new method for how to make them too!  Each block was made using a different technique for the hst, one of which I knew and one I didn't.  Which one is your favorite?  I am looking forward to the March blocks!

This is the Balkan Puzzle or the Windblown Star.  It is a traditional block from the 1930's.  I really like this block and could see a whole quilt in this!

This is the Chunky Chevron Block.  I didn't want it to feel too heavy so I went for a white background printed fabric for the large zig zag.
