Mother's Day

Did you have a nice Mother's Day?  My Mother's Day was church and then home to prep for a dinner party with some lovely friends... a little going away meal for some Army and church friends who will be moving on to their next adventure.  I made lasagna on Saturday, so there was not much cooking involved, and each of the other ladies brought things to contribute, so it was such a nice time.

Want to see what I sent the Mommies for Mother's Day?  I have a Mom, a StepMom and a Mother-in-Law... so I usually try to prep some nice handmade things to send to them.  Last year I kept it simple with a little zippered pouch, a frame with a recent photo in it, a handmade card and a little Starbucks for a fun treat one day.

Handmade card... I made the image and text on PicMonkey and printed it on white cardstock.  Then I had some thick grey paper leftover from invitations I made way back when and some fun printed washi tape for decoration and easy application.

Pouch No. 1.  I wanted to get some practice and get over my zipper fear, so I decided to make some fun zippered pouches with some of my stash fabric. Both sides are the same.

Pouch No. 2.  This is side 1, and side 2 is below.

Pouch No. 3.  Both sides are the same.

 They are all lined.

Hope you had a nice Mother's Day!!!

Dinner Party OOTD

This past Friday night we attended a dinner party to say goodbye to some military friends.  I wanted to dress cute, but not too dressy, so a maxi skirt, blouse and belt seemed the perfect option!!

Hope you are having a blessed day!

A handmade touch

A friend of mine is pregnant with a little boy.  I knew I wanted to make her a little handmade baby gift but wasn't sure what.  So I was looking through my stash and saw these scraps and thought adding these to a good quality pre-fold cloth diaper would be a great burp-cloth.  Cute and absorbent.  Both my kids were pukers, so I went through these like crazy.

Here is how it looks flat.  If you want to make these, just make sure you wash the pre-fold well before so that it shrinks up before adding the fabric.

Hope you are having a great day!

Casual Chic OOTD

This was the outfit I wore last Saturday while out and about with the kids.  It's getting hotter, so shorts and tank tops, or little dresses are a must!

Have a wonderful day!!!

My April Blocks

Here are my April Blocks of the Month for the Craftsy sew along I'm doing.  This month was English paper piecing hexagons.  I had never done this technique so it was fun to learn!  And at first I wouldn't like it too much because of all the handwork, but it grew on me and they were coming out pretty quick, so I could see the fruit of my work quickly.

My son learned what a hexagon was when I was working on this, so every time he sees these, he is very proud that he knows the name of the shape.

This block is called Sunny with a chance of Hex and designed by Amy Gibson the teacher.

Here is how the two look together.  May is wonky log cabins, can't wait to get started!

Fun and Casual Mommy OOTD

Happy Tuesday!  This was my Saturday fun outfit for running errands and hanging out with the hubs and kids.

Shirt: Old Navy
Belt: Mahina
Skirt: Church women's clothing swap
Shoes: Target
Blue earrings:  I think Target, or maybe forever 21
Bracelet: Jewelmint
Watch: Michael Kors
Neclace: "M" a gift from my husband when we were dating!

Here is Baby A... before I realized she had food on her face.

No more food on her face but she was tired of being held, she wanted to get down and walk!!  I wanted a better picture of her bow, because I made it, but oh well, she wasn't cooperating very well!  But she sure is cute!
